Karaoke kara- oke what does it actually mean?
The word karaoke is formed from two Japanese words:
- ‘kara’ comes from the word ‘karappo’ meaning empty or void and
- ‘oke’ comes from the word ‘okesutura’ or orchestra. Karaoke songs are typically music reproductions without the voice of the singer.
The word Karaoke strikes terror in the hearts of those who would do anything to avoid the humiliation of singing in public. And this is what most of our choir members would have said when they joined our Viva Vocal classes but now…
Karaoke also means having fun with friends and family singing songs they love. It is a chance to be in the spotlight and be the Star turn.
Our Viva members conquer their fear by learning how to make the best of their voices and they discover that their voices are great!
So last week, they attended their Karaoke Party with guests they invited and all had a great time.
They got more than they bargained for….CONFIDENCE!
You see our voices are unique and when someone says you sound awful, you feel humiliated and your self-esteem is damaged.
But our Viva members wanted to change that. They took the risk and won!
And now that their voices are worth hearing, they feel they can achieve anything and they do just that.
So, are you brave enough?
